Ter Heijde is a little township, part of the municipality Monster which in its turn is part of the municipality Westland, Southwest of The Hague The Battle of Ter Heijde, also known as the Battle of Scheveningen (which is located a mere 10 miles (16 km) North East of Ter Heijde ), was the final naval battle of the First Anglo-Dutch War. It took place on 31 July 1653 (10 August Gregorian calendar). between the fleets of the Commonwealth of England and the Dutch Republic of 7 United Provinces. Dutch admiral Tromp died during this battle.
